eco-city first or eco-manufacturing?
Shanghai daily reported: Finland plans to build 'eco-city' in Tianjin. at the first sight, I had thought editor made a mistake because I never heard any government need foreigh country to build a city for self. after reading this article, I understood this is only a marketing strategy to promote finland's environment protection technologies and products.
Obviously, westerners have known very well how to please chinese local government. huge construction engineering project like eco-city is a good way to embody the performance of Tianjin local government, especially in this environment-above-all era. I admit this is a smart marketing strategy. but I am wondering who will pay for it?
As for eco-city, I am very doubt its practical meaning. in my opinion, when more and more factories are relocated outside the city, city is only a consuming goods warehouse. if the goods are green, the process of consuming by citizens will not cause big pollution. so how to eco-manufacture these goods is the most urgent thing, at least in china, I think.
Anyway, this news caught my eyes. I will keep on tracking.
