business is not like a river in china
business should be like a river including upstream, downstream, branches. only an intact business chain can produce economic value and social value. but in current china, many local companies ignore this obvious theory. they only focus on the business opportunity in one circle of this business chain and don't care about whether upstream and downstream are mature; then they rush into and an intense competition is unavoidable. this is a tragic but realistic bad fad in china business world.
I still want to take nanotech industry for example. since scientists gave nanotech all kinds of nice speeches, chinese brave businessmen began to register companies with nano name. some companies directly rename products with nano terms; some companies have good business moral and manufacture real nano material products. almost all of these nano companies manufacture nano CaCO3 or nano TiO2 and nano ZnO. is it only a coincidence? definitely not! chinese businessmen know clearly that these nano products are easiest to commercialize and have high market acceptance. but this is all they can see. they forget to check upstream and downstream condition, and many of these companies manufacture nano products for the sake of nano products, not for the sake of real market demand!
I notice this phenomenon also happened or is happening in other industries. how to prevent this kind of thing in china to make a better business environment? I would like to drop this question to economist, policy maker and china managers.
