leftright  Let's enjoy chinese new year (spring festival) together this weekend! for every chinese, no matter where he/she is that day, home is the Mecca and the families are the only people he/she thinks of. at the eve of lunar new year, families sit around the table together and eat chinese traditional reunion dinner. it's the happiest moment during the whole year. then family will stay up the whole night to welcome the new year. on the beginning of new year, all the door panels will be pasted with spring festival couplets. what a properous dynasty!

From the beginning of new year to the 7th day of new year, chinese like visiting their relatives and friends one by one. elders should make sure they have a deep pocket. normally, the elder people should give red packets with gift money when the single youngers or the children give new year's greeting. in the rural villages of china, many traditional performances will be held like exhibit of lanterns, traditional opera, lion dance, dragon dance etc. so wonderful! in chinese new year, one thing is very important. that is firecrackers. ancient myth tells chinese people firecrackers is used to get rid of ill-fortune and exorcize the demon. chinese children like putting the findcrackers very much.

Spring festival is one important part of chinese traditional culture. but in recent years, chinese are forgetting the happiness of spring festival in their childhood. western christmas culture and modern culture are changing chinese folk custom. many customs are disappeared, especially in big cities. fewer and fewer people write the spring festival couplets with china ink and writing brush because printer can print it. exhibit of lanterns becomes the show in theme parks without traditional elements. I really worry about these phenomena very much. I like the heritage of chinese ancient culture and I don't expect my children lose them.

Finally, I want to send my chinese new year's greeting to my blog readers. thank you for giving me comments and support. 恭喜发财!(gong xi fa cai!)
